This week, we have dove deep into our critical theory projects by first finishing an outline and plan of what we want to focus on in our paper and presentation. We have decided to zero in on the archetypes seen in Macbeth and analyze how the different characters fit into them as well as how they affect the story as a whole. I am finding this project much more enjoyable than I had expected it to be, because I am learning a lot about Macbeth by looking closer at the roles each character plays and analyzing specific scenes in the play.
I also really like how this is a group project and we are able to feed off of each other and exchange ideas that we have for both our paper and presentation. Sometimes this can prove to be difficult, as there are some things that we have disagreed on, but I love being able to collaborate and work together to create a great, developed project that will help me to grow more than I would if I was working on this project on my own. Google Drive and Prezi have proven to be awesome resources to use because we can all work on the same thing together at the same time. We have really taken advantage of these tools and it has helped us to get a lot done with our project so far. We have designed our presentation and have been working on adding different pieces of information to it together, and we plan to write our paper using this information from our presentation as a starting point and elaborate with other thoughts and findings about the play.
It may not seem that I have learned a lot in class this week, but it feels like I really have been able to see Macbeth from a different perspective through the analysis we have done with our project. I think this a great way to learn about a work of literature, and it really works for me because I learn best when exchanging ideas and working with others. I am looking forward to finishing our projects and presenting our findings to the class because we have great ideas planned out and even more to discover about Macbeth.
