We continued working on our This I Believe narratives and videos this week by recording our voices, choosing music and images, and deciding what we want to focus on most by creating our own rubrics. I really like that we were able to create our own rubrics because it allows us to personalize the project a little, and choose the effect and purpose that we want our videos to have. The two categories that I chose in addition to voice- conversational style, soundtrack- emotion, and duration of presentation are images and point of view- purpose. I am excited to focus on using images to enhance my presentation and support my belief. I also think that it is important to maintain focus in order to convey the purpose of the video well, and I am going to focus on keeping focus on my belief and supporting it throughout the production.
The thing that I think really makes This I Believe narratives so powerful and influential is the combination of music, voice recording, and images. It is cool to look at how each element connects and is able to bring more meaning to the belief that is being presented. It truly delivers the message in a very effective way and makes the viewer/listener feel something by evoking emotion and interest in the viewer.
We also learned more about using the video editor Wevideo. Hearing instruction and a little demo during class helped me understand how to use the editor much better than when I worked on creating the music clips for our critical theory projects on my own. I am using Adobe Premier Pro to create my This I Believe video because I have a lot of experience with it and am much more comfortable using this program, but I am also glad that I was able to learn about Wevideo and how convenient it can be, especially when working on a project on computers in different locations. I am sure I will find this video editing website very useful in the future!
